Before I get lazy again and declare myself not worthy of uploading any works again... *sticks this up* Considering how I'm actually halfway proud of this (o shock! [once more!]), I'm sure you all won't like this. It always is like so! XD (I seem to become fond of my most bleh works? X'D)
Anyways... Medium: Gouache, watercolors, and pencil on Bockingford 300g/m cream Time: A month I think the main reason why I'm actually so proud of this is because this has to be the biggest painting I've made in a while? Its... about... 20 x 30 inches? (My normal paintings are about 9 cm high! :'D) The last thing I made on this scale were a bunch of highly disinterested bottles about seven years back, forced and prodded by my high school teacher into doing so. This one was the result of a very loosely loose commission (which allowed me to happily dawdle over it for a month!). (Unfortunately [or fortunately! Anyways, for the longest time I've felt like making the 32nd puppet and sooo... Nigredo! Random story: Lularum and Luc created the 32 puppets (or 31, as she had planned them to be) to be their little helpers, each given their own role upon birth - with their bodies made of machines and brought to life with their alchemy. But when it came to infuse the 30th and 31st with their souls, Sir Izul Falmar, most brave and beloved of the Queen, happened to meander into their workshop, arms laden with buckets of fried chicken. Thereupon, the most wise Lularum happened to get distracted by the aromatic smells and placed the 30th puppet's share of soul into the 31st as well. And so, was the 30th born, but much to the lamentation of everyone, with a greatly shortened life span. She would be able to live but for a few years. Sadly, Luc named them to be Albedo and Rubedo (for the 31st, with an excess of soul, had turned bright red). Years later, making sure no buckets of fried chicken were nearby, Lularum created Nigredo - the puppet who would act as a balancer and would allow Albedo to live a normal life. End dramatic random story! I think I babbled enough to make up for all of my previous months' laziness! :'D Fullview please, if possible? Almost all the details were already lost while resizing this to a viewable proportion! [The text on Nigredo's birth cirlcle: 'A marriage is made between two Gums, the White and the Red'] [More babbling! Its basically made on the same theme as this painting - the creation of a Philosophers's Stone: [link] So if anybody feels mad enough to want to know why there's a lizard on Lularum's shoulder, that might help give some explaination...? Though I think I got bored babbling there too... :'D] Daily DeviationGiven 2008-09-19Nigredo's Birth by ~Yakra |

All will be well
In the light of the sun
The night will pass
The darkness will fade
I will be able to see the hills
And I will continue looking for you
WANT

Reality sucks.
The lighting, glow, colors can catch anyone's eye. I'm at loss of words.
this is beautiful! The colors remind me of one of my favorite books as a child (Amanda Dreaming. Illustrated by Mercer Mayer)
I
^^ I like the story too!! Fried chicken...
the dolls are all so cute ^^hehehe the ones in the background are about to get kitty pounced...
What are the colorful beings in the foreground? are they elementals assisting in the alchemy?
What about the birds?
It's all so pretty >w<

Best thing I've ever heard inside a Literature class: "Anyone who does not know what a simile is will be forced to stand in the front of the class and be stoned to death."

All I'm going to say is that I love the colors on this piece and I'm really angry I can't color like that myself, since I have an idea for a pic I would like to do 100% on paper with pencils, pens and paint (lol) but I will probably end up coloring digitally.
